Had a good day today, Uni went well and I had a decent shift in work. But there’s something else I want to talk about tonight.
Today is the 2 year anniversary of my choice to embrace sobriety, 730 days of a straight lifestyle with absolutely no hiccoughs. I’m in such a good mood over this you really have no idea.2 years ago today I was arrested in Station Road and eventually prosecuted for Assault which was a result of my constant bad behaviour due to alcohol. I made a decision then to knock drinking on the head and I haven’t looked back, the best choice I’ve ever made. I’m a different person now for the better, and it’s because of a lot of things. I stopped getting into (as much) trouble, I’ve made new friends and made other choices to better myself that I probably would not have otherwise.I didn’t label myself anything overnight, and can’t remember the first time I thought to myself ‘yeah, I’m straightedge’, but the truth is that the 28th February is the best thing I have to an anniversary to celebrate the most positive thing about myself as a person. Realising I was straightedge was a process that took months, slowly noticing my attitude, opinion and ideas regarding alcohol and drugs to change. People can give me abuse over my lifestyle and whatever, my friends can make jokes and others don’t even have to understand. I don’t even care what any of your opinions are anymore, I’m in this for myself and nobody else.Got my Gorilla Biscuits tattoo this month to mark my anniversary, my pride and my commitment. Thanks for caring enough to read all of this, I’m too proud of myself today.XXX
